What a great experience we had during our stay at the La Closserie de Sarlat. Mireille and Jean-Christophe have created their own paradise that we were fortunate to be able to visit in the last few days. Of course the location, the Swimmingpool and the rooms were great. But what we really appreciated was the exceptional hospitality, the home made brioches, the great sightseeing tips, the tasty cocktail at the swimmingpool, a wonderful breakfast with a smile and the sense of feeling welcome all the time. Mireille and Jean-Christophe, a big thank you for creating an unforgettable first visit to the Dordogne. We will definitely be back…

During a month of travel in France Spring 2023, we were fortunate to spend one week on the outskirts of Sarlat at the very special Closerie de Sarlat. I recall learning of it in a travel article and it sounded exactly like the place for us — close to the Medieval village of Sarlat and an easy drive to the many places we planned to visit, yet out of the city set nicely in a wooded area.

Our stay exceeded our expectations! Our room – La Four à pain – was charming and perfect for our needs. We could completely unpack and settle in. Mireille and Jean-Christophe are exceptional hosts – the most warm, welcoming and thoughtful of any we have ever met in a lifetime of travel!

Every morning, we were provided with an ample breakfast buffet sufficient to power us through most days until dinner. Mireille’s skills in the kitchen are on full display with many homemade preserves and baked goods. It was a wonderful way to begin each day. And on Friday evening, we joined in an excellent dinner again prepared by our hosts.Jean-Christophe was so helpful in assisting us with planning our days and obtaining advanced reservations or tickets when necessary. If we ever return to this area of France, this is the place I would stay and for even longer next time. It is truly special!

We were so fortunate to find this place. I can’t find the words to THANK Mireille & Jean-Christophe for their warm welcome. Ideally located near all the main touristic attractions, La Closerie de Sarlat is THE place to be in Dordogne. Our hosts are so keen to offer to their guests the utmost qualitative service. The rooms are fully equiped with a refine decoration. A nice swimming pool in a beautiful garden.

The buffet breakfast is simply amazing. We had the chance to have 2 dinners , it’s simply the best table we’ve eaten during our stay in the Region. Can’t wait to come back…

Being foodies, we have also to mention that Mireille is a fantastic cook, we got the chance to have an evening “table d´hôtes” which I cannot recommend enough! Breakfast is just great, all products home-made and/or from local producers, and fresh bakery day by day.

The room (we were in the Le Four à Pain) is tastefully furnished and very comfortable, and the whole location is super quiet, a wonderful place to slow down and relax.

And worth mentioning the valuable recommendation of Jean-Christophe for sightseeing, great adviser for day trips!

What a beautiful place to stay and such a warm welcome from Mireille and John-Christophe.

Our stay in the converted bread oven was so relaxed and had it not been for the weather we would have stayed longer. The room and whole place is extremely well presented, breakfast was superb and the best thing… it’s dog friendly too.

We promise to return!

Breakfast was amazing. Each morning the pastries were perfect, homemade, and the owners were so welcoming, helpful, and just so much fun to be with. Room was so clean, wifi was very good.
